Registered Clinical Counsellor
During the 16 years I have worked as a crisis intervention worker & therapist, I have had people come to me feeling overwhelmed & discouraged, often unable to see their way out of a situation. It is my job to ensure that each person’s needs are identified & addressed. My focus is on helping people communicate effectively & to help them achieve their goals.
My clinical style has been shaped by a wide range of psychological perspectives. These include humanistic, cognitive & behavioural models for human change. I view the psychotherapeutic process as an agreement of honest collaboration, mutual responsibility & shared devotion to strive towards outcomes that are defined & valued by the client.
Through Pitt Meadows Wellness Centre, I offer a comfortable & safe environment for therapeutic mental health services. Solution-oriented with my clients, I endorse a holistic & humanistic approach to therapy. I offer a cognitive-behavioural approach to learning “self-regulation” to enhance behavioural health. This assists people in changing life-defeating habits. Methods for family change include Rational Emotive Therapy, Schema-Focused Cognitive Therapy and Collaborative Behavioural Counselling.
From a therapeutic perspective I specialize in adoption issues, infertility & women’s health issues such as PMS & postpartum.
I believe that optimal health includes wellness on both the physical & emotional planes & that we can find balance in our lives.
