Additional Information

What Is Chiropractic?

One of the largest primary contact health care professions in Canada. A non-invasive, hands-on treatment to help prevent, diagnose and treat conditions related to the spine, nervous system and musculoskeletal system.

Many studies have demonstrated that chiropractic care is one of the most effective treatments for back pain, neck pain, headaches, whiplash, sports injuries and many other types of musculoskeletal problems.

What Happens During A Chiropractic Visit?

During the first visit, our chiropractors complete a detailed health history, followed by a hands-on assessment that includes an evaluation of pain and movement patterns, joint mobility, flexibility, muscular strength and reflexes.

If necessary, we will examine relevant imaging results, lab tests and medical or surgical notes. We will establish a diagnosis and work with you to develop a treatment plan based on your goals. Emphasis is placed on correcting the pain and dysfunction and preventing its recurrence.

We use and recommend a variety of natural healing methods, including adjustments, massage, trigger point therapy, nutrition, exercise rehabilitation, and counseling on lifestyle issues that impact your health. We also adjust the extremities and use other forms of physiological therapeutics including the use of laser therapy, electrical stimulation, ultrasound, traction, neuromuscular re-education, and a variety of manual therapies.

Who Can See A Chiropractor?

People who are dealing with issues of back pain, neck pain and headaches. People with issues possibly related to workplace accidents, sports injuries, pregnancy-related pain, motor vehicle accidents and stress-related ailments. We also take pride in helping the elderly, children and babies.

Once patients feel better, many continue to see us to help prevent further injury and treat the ailments of everyday stressors.

What’s An Adjustment?

A non-invasive, highly skilled procedure consisting of a gentle, controlled and directed movement to help relieve pain, discomfort and improve range of motion.
Spinal adjustments to correct joint dysfunction and restrictions are what make chiropractic professionals unique in comparison with any other type of health care professional.

We will apply adjustments to areas of joint restriction or dysfunction, with the goal of increasing motion, coordination and circulation, while reducing swelling, muscle spasms and pain. When a joint is adjusted, sometimes a gas bubble escapes causing a popping sound. Extensive research has shown that chiropractic adjustments are safe and extremely effective.

Complications are rare, and side effects such as temporary soreness are usually minor. Your chiropractor is well-trained and will determine if you need a referral to another healthcare provider.

About Chiroprators

A minimum of seven years of post-secondary education – at least three years in an undergraduate university degree, and four years in a chiropractic program with over 4,500 classroom hours.
Students spend over 250 hours dissecting human cadavers and at least 1,000 hours treating patients in a supervised clinical setting.

Chiropractic students must pass strict Canadian licensing exams to practice.

Our chiropractors have a minimum of eight years of post-secondary education, plus other health and exercise-related certifications

Billing Options

We can direct-bill most extended healthcare plans for all chiropractic services, and most plans cover 80-100% of the treatment cost.

Because chiropractors are considered primary care health care providers, no referral is necessary to see a chiropractor. Please check with your health insurance provider to confirm your level of coverage.

ICBC covers the cost of chiropractic treatments within the first 12 weeks after a car accident. They may cover further treatments with approval.

WorkSafe BC – If approved, WorkSafe will cover the cost of your treatments for the injured area. Until that time, you will be expected to pay in full for your chiropractic care at the time the service is rendered. Upon approval, you will be refunded any extra monies paid.
