Your Recovery Starts Here
Registered Massage Therapy is the evidence-based practice of remedial manipulation of soft tissue, including muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia, joints and organs. Working with a Registered Massage Therapist (RMT) can help alleviate pain and tension associated with a variety of physiological conditions, injuries and stress. Treatment is tailored to your specific needs through comprehensive assessments that allow your RMT to apply the best-suited techniques and give relevant (and doable) home care advice. Registered Massage Therapy can assist in restoring muscle and organ function, increasing flexibility and relieving stress.
Key Benefits:

- Massage therapy is a form of treatment and prevention for physical dysfunction, injury, pain and disorders of soft tissue and joints of the body.
- Massage therapists work to alleviate your complaints by assessing the soft tissue in joints, and using treatment methods of manipulation, mobilization, and various other manual techniques to restore balance to your body.
- Massage therapy is the manual treatment of the soft tissues of the body, including muscles, nervous system, connective tissues, tendons, ligaments, fascia, viscera, and joints.
- It relieves muscle tension & pain and increases flexibility & mobility.
- Massage therapy relieves stress by reducing the effects of the sympathetic nervous system, or the “fight or flight” response, on the body, as well as enhancing the effects of the parasympathetic nervous system, or “rest and digest” processes. This in turn lowers the production of stress hormones, such as cortisol.
- It helps alleviate the soft tissue discomfort associated with everyday and occupational stresses, repetitive muscular strain, and many chronic pain conditions.
- Various techniques are used to enhance function, aid in the healing process, and promote relaxation and well-being.
Your Registered Massage Therapist (RMT) will ask you about your symptoms and your medical history, complete relevant assessments, and will explain the massage techniques that will be used to benefit you. Once the treatment plan has been agreed upon, the RMT will ask you to review and complete a consent form on your first visit, and then for verbal consent at subsequent appointments. We update your medical history and consent forms every 3 years, or after any longer period, to maintain our accurate charting and your understanding of our policies.
Next, you will be given privacy to undress to the point that you are comfortable so the therapist may use oil or lotion during treatment; or wear loose-fitting clothing. Then, you lie on the table and cover yourself with a sheet, and your RMT will re-enter to begin treatment. Your therapist will only expose the areas that are agreed upon, in advance, for treatment as needed, and you will otherwise remain covered by a sheet.
Your massage therapist will evaluate your areas of concern through touch, and communicate to determine the right amount of pressure to apply. As stated, your RMT may use oil or lotion – please let us know if you have any allergies to certain products.
You may feel relaxed during and after your massage, but you may also experience some pain or sensitivity; please let the therapist know if you experience any discomfort.
Your therapist may also offer stretches and strengthening exercises for home care to further the effects of your treatment.
ICBC Claims welcome!
